Chin Lu

Hi there! I’m an SF-based digital strategist, marketer, and writer.

I create content to brighten people’s days, to make them feel less alone in the world and more understood. As a social media and content strategist, I’ve done everything from holding top influencers’ hands (both symbolically and physically) through campaigns, planning real-time responses for Audi’s Super Bowl commercial in a war room, to ghostwriting Stephen Curry’s Instagram and devising a multichannel distribution strategy for HBO’s Westworld, all the while keeping up to date on new features and platforms for more opportunities to take a risk.

Currently I’m freelancing as a marketing consultant. Recently I contracted as a content strategist at eBay, and as the social media editor for Character Media (formerly known as Kore Asian Media), an entertainment news magazine that is the oldest Asian American publication. Previously I was the Senior Strategist at Portal A, a creative studio for both branded and original content heavily featuring influencers and celebrities. Prior to that, I was doing brand, social, and influencer marketing strategy at two advertising agencies: Mekanism and MUH-TAY-ZIK | HOF-FER (Now M/H VCCP). I also was  TATCHA the luxury beauty brand’s only social media lead for a while.

I also write. My personal essays have been published on VICE, The Bold Italic (RIP) and Refinery29. I’m verified on Twitter, and my tweets have been included in dozens of Twitter Moments #humblebrag.

For trends, I thread the needle between early adoption and getting it right, whether it’s being the first and or being the first to do it well. My passion projects tend to intersect youth culture, art, new media, and tech. I always try to develop content with, by, and for under-represented communities like people of color, LGBTQ communities, people with disabilities, and immigrants.

In my free time, I’m on an all-female hip hop dance team and a mentor for the East Bay College Fund. I love talking to young people about career guidance, whether it’s as a workshop leader for the ITASA conference, a guest speaker for a Creativity in Business class at USF, or part of the alumni panel for student groups at UC Berkeley. I also love to do international solo trips! So far I’ve done Seoul, London, and Seoul.

For more detials, please take a look around. I’m always looking for new exciting opportunities so feel free to reach out!
